Previous owner seized it,put neet fuel in by mistake. Have cleaned the bore and it looks OK but would rather fit new. Have had no problem sourcing none genuine piston but can't find cylinder any where, it's the 46mm bore. Have priced genuine components but out weighs the value of the saw. any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for quick reply spud. I have tried a 47mm kit which looks similar to that, couldn't get it to run, I will get some pictures a up asap but I'm sure transfer ports are different. I should have mentioned that originally, my bad.

Few observations - the transfer port on the aftermarket cylinder looks pretty rough as far as I can see and looks like it may be of open design but can't really tell.

The cylinder you cleaned - how did you clean it? If it was chemically with a light rub over with fine grit paper then as long as the plating is intact and there are no scores above the exhaust port then fit a new piston as the Mahle original will be of better manufacture than the original.

If you can get hold of Meteor or Episan pistons then use these otherwise use Golf with OEM circlips and if none of these are available - a non branded one but be careful that the thing is ok.

In the picture it looks like the aluminium may have been sanded off - a bit harsh but as long as it is a general ebrading rather confined to a small area, you may be lucky - worth a punt!

Sorry for poor picture quality, the after market cylinder does have open transfers, the piston skirt is also open on either side. I shall try a piston in the original cylinder, see what happens. To be fair the the cylinder looks worse in the picture, and it's not gonna see regular work when it's done. Appreciate you taking the time to advise, many thanks.
