can anybody give me any ideas on pricing freshly cut timber?? ive recently been offered some cherry, some walnut & some apple, not great quantities but some nice timber .

 

any ideas how to value it??

Work back from what you think you can sell it for and work out your pricing from that.

 

Cherry for instance, I'm happy to pay about £5 on the hoppus measure for. It costs a couple of quid to convert it, a couple of quid to stack it and spray it and a couple of quid to kiln it. Total cost £11, sale price about £28-£30, which still gives a 50% margin once allowing for drying related defects.

As ever, great advice. I can now give the accountant some idea of the value of my own wood - cos I too am clueless regards its worth. I'm alright at cutting and building with it, but when it comes to £££.......
