Hi all,

I'm after a good and reliable supplier of hazel stakes and binders for hedgelaying. I've used Edward Brun before from north-east Norfolk, but his prices are a bit steep and he's quite far from me.

I'd be looking at an arctic load, (1500 stakes, 3000 binders or so) so though closer would be easier, they could travel a bit I suppose.

I'm near Sleaford, Lincs.

Any suppliers on here? or ones that you know of, prices, delivery cost???:thumbup1:

Thanks, Daniel

P.S. I'd like them yesterday...

I can highly reccomend Huw and Carolyn Ross , of Rawhaw wood near Corby - its not that close to you, but not a million miles away either - they have top quality goods, and are reasonably priced. I havent got a phone number to hand but i think they are on the Small woods assoc website

Thanks Pete, will give them a call.

I think I may have tried them before, and they were not up to supplying a full load but that may be my ancient mind playing tricks on me....

Although there are lots of useful chaps (and probably chapesses) on the Arbtalk forum you have to realise that we are still talking 'cottage industry' scale in a lot of things. North East Norfolk is NOT quite far from you. Price excepted, nowadays that is a local supply. (Yes I know its not how it should be, but are we not working toward this??????????)

Sadly, sadly, sadly woods that are worked on local and small scale sustainable management regime are few and far between.

Be realistic in the modern'marketplace'...... unacceptable as it may be.

Get yr binders from where you can and MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Well done....have fun:thumbup:

I'm quite a way from you (gloucester) and won't be able to supply the amount you need for a couple ofmonths as busy with other work, but if you're still desperate in december and willing to travel give us a shout and I'll see what I can do

Like I said, I'm after an arctic load so it'll be on there anyway, won't make much difference if it's an hour or two extra....

The main issue I have with North-east Norfolk is price, not distance though they are 80-odd miles away, so that's as far as Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham (those well known coppice area's:biggrin:) So I thought I was casting the net quite wide already?

Thanks anyway, Daniel

Thanks mate, though I hope I'll be well sorted by then. The schedule says I should have done about a mile by january....

Surely 80-odd miles away plus another 2hours' drive covers a fair bit of England, Over to the wrong side of London, even into Wales if need be!

I'm not wanting to rule out even further as well, thought they'd have to be fairly keenly priced to offset the haulier's cost:thumbup1:
