Ranger gearbox fault

Weve had a problem with our 07 reg ranger not stopping in 5th gear whilst driving now our 58 reg ranger tipper has started doing the same, has anyone had this happen?

No with knee wedged on it

No experience of rangers but I have heard that persistant pressure on the stick can cause selector problems.

Rangers notorious for this , transmission not up for a lot of towing and wears out. 5th gear pops out, a friend of mine had one done under ford warranty in 1st year. Since its gone again, apart from that an excellent workhorse he says. People that deal with them regularly such as transmission reconditioners should back this up. The salesman will probably deny it.
