Possible work experience and hello

Hi all,

I have just signed up and would like to say hi.

I am new to this site and the world of arboriculture but have just started a level 3 course at Cannington College in Somerset and already thoroughly enjoying it. I would like to say though that the forum has been really helpful for me so far in getting to know loads of things about the industry just from reading and watching some vids on youtube. Though I would like to say I thought there would be more on there, I watched some one dismantling a big monterey pine from a helmet cam and was really interesting for me and would love to see smilar kinds of stuff.

Also I was wandering if any one new of some one or companies that may be willing to take me on for work experience on a friday or weekends as I need to log 300 hours over my time at college. I do not have cs 30 or cs 38 yet but should be getting them in november, but I have bought most of my PPE now including ropes and harness though I know that wont be used for a while.

Thanks for all the help and keep up the good posting.

Cheers gray

Hey man, not sure if I have the rank and calibre among the site moderators to say this, but welcome to the site!

I'm pretty new here myself, and also happen to have started Level 3 Arb this September too at Riseholme, Lincoln. Good to hear that you're enjoying the course. Out of curiosity, how many days/hours a week are you studying, and how many of those are climbing/cutting/practical?

Obviously in my position, I can't offer any work experience, I'm in the same boat (though I've got 100 more hours to do for some reason?). I can however offer a link to a YouTube Channel that I've been following for a good year and a bit. Hopefully it works. :001_smile:

This chap (Reg), as I understand it is pretty well known and respected here on Arbtalk, and all his videos are of high quality.

Good luck with the course dude!
