Not sure I have seen this before and it's got me thinking. Ganoderma applanatum that has turned green? Any help would be appreciated. It's about 12 foot up a Beech.

No, this is Trametes gibbosa, a perennial saprotrophic white rotter, which on beech is preceeded (succession) by Bjerkandera adusta, an annual saprotrophic species, that decomposes dead wood with organohalogens or polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

Many thanks for the reply Gerrit. Just checked the fungi directory and read all the comments with interest. Really appreciate the time you guys put into this fascinating and important subject. I never tire from learning this stuff.
