Hi Folks i'm currently searching for a timber yard that has large diameter produce that level 3 arborists could use to establish their mensuration and value estimating skills. not being familiar with this side of forestry at present I would appreciate any help that may be offered ...any yard within a radius of 50 miles of Lincoln could be viable for learner transport.

thanking anyone in anticipation

Most of your felling sites or timber on campus should be fine.

or try private estates ; Grimsthorpe Castle or Burghley House both have active timber production facilities and the Head Foresters would do some guest demo's (if asked nicely!) Grimsthorpe also has a working sawmill.

Closer to home, theres a Sawmill at Corby Glen (cant remember the name?). also heard of a timber merchant in lincoln by the name of Listers, dont know if its pre or post production tho.

Thanks for the feedback John, have managed to source a site close to campus but may contact Grimsthorpe or Burley house to see if they would be willing to entertain a group of mixed arbs? Are you now working freelance or are you back at Grimsthorpe? Hopefully your jaunt into teaching has not put you off, are you still working towards your cert ed?

kindest regards
