McCulloch Tm250 strimmer spool head replacement

Been given one of these to replace the spool head on. Does anone know how the hell you get the nut off the end of the shaft to put the spool on. I haven't a manual for it and the ones i've had previously have been fairly simple wingnut or nut removal.

Can anyone advise?

Cheers

if you hold on to the black head part and put a spanner on the nut looking thing the nut thing on the silver shaft on the pic (all one part I thing) will turn. The internal drive shaft will turn with it, so the strimmer drive shaft engages into the silver bit. I wonder if the spool somehow goes over the nut part?

not the silver part, if you look at where the shaft goes its like 3 different sized disks, The outer one being the one i can see a hole in the picture. if you stick a slim screwdriver through that hole from the outside then spin the head till you find the other hole on one of the other disk shaped parts. If thats not it then i dont know.
