Hi guys and girls..

This happened on Sunday evening on our local council park.

Luckily enough nobody was hurt or injured but had plenty of eye witness accounts though.. some are very tarted up from what i have heard!

As you can see it is very close to some play equipment, just a miracle that for a busy park, nobody wasm hurt or injured. Happened around 4pm - 5.30pm

ALL trees on the council grounds are inspected yearly as a minimum, sometimes more, as and when the council has the money as im sure you all will understand, they have work carried out as and when requested so all is above board after an investigation i would just like to say.

Their has been reports that some peoples children are traumatised by what happened. But witness reports say nobody, thank god was near the tree when the limb fell.

Looks like a "mechanical" failure to me without fungal activity as a cause.

Thanks fungus, was going to ask you to have a look at the pics and see what you thought. Their is nothing at the base of the tree to suggest anything was up with the tree if that makes sense.

Sure that does make sense, their could f.i. have been brackets of Ganoderma australe at the base, which could have been co-responsible for the failure higher up the tree.
