Small Problem with 346

Hi Guys

I've just bought a second user 346,my first one but I'm having problems locating the brake ring back around the drum. It's a silverside, i made sure the brake was off when i pulled the cover off but now I can get the ring to expand enough to get around the drum. The brake recess on the handle seems fine but I cant get any movement from the alloy 3 pronged star locator on the cover plate.

Hope I've explained myself properly

;)

If there's a chance the chainbrake may have got knocked on somehow while the cover was off, I took clutch drum off, shoved the cover back on and clicked it off with the handle then refitted the clucth - fitted a new brake band to my 353 a few weeks back so found myself in a simialr position and that was only way I could come up with that worked

Yes, thats one option - the other two being to take the handle off and push it against the star mechanism and pull it back, the other is making a special tool out of a scrench or socket.

He has shifted it now using my advice - the saw is one I sold him and think the poor guy hasn't had much experience with saws as he has flooded it - should be ok tomorrow once the fuel has cleared - common mistake to think the saw will start on full choke but this is rarely achieved on two strokes!
