Chipper or shredder?

I've got some some small conifers to remove and was going to hire a timberwolf gravity fed until the chap at the hire shop said I would be better off with a shredder. The place is bad access and the trees aren't all that big, but rather dense. Having not hired a chipper before or used any of these smaller ones before, I'm not sure what's best for the job. I'm used to the bigger chipper we have at work. What d'ya reckon?

the small timberwolf gravity fed chippers are great.

try doing the job when its dry,as mine didnt like wet connys.

other woods it will munch them all day every day.

make sure the blade is nice and sharp. other wise the brash will just bounce around in the hopper..

other than that i cant fault them..

never used a shredder maybe someone else can enlighten you on them...:thumbup1:

Generally speaking, if your material is "contaminated" with soil, stones or is wet, heavy and dense like bedding plants then you need a shredder. If the stuff is clean tree waste then you need a chipper. If you are knocking some conifer about then a chipper will suffice.
