Idea if you can't whistle

You would certainly have to unbuckle the chin strap to blow the whistle but I don't think it would be necessary to take the helmet off. I can't really see any issues with unbuckling, blowing a whistle then re-buckling

 

You would only be blowign the whistle in dire emergency (not good practice to use it to regular, crying wolf etc) so a dire emergency up a tree is probably not the best, or easiest place to be undoign your chin strap?

 

Just an observation. Better to have the whistle than not even if you do have to unbuckle.

I can see what you mean if the climber is injured its not a good idea to unbuckle. I suppose I was thinking the from the angle that if you just want attention if you see something going wrong on the ground or if the boss is spending ages petting a dog while you wait for a clear dropzone!

A better idea is to give the saw a good few quick, short high revs and make the ground staff aware of it meaning 'get a coffee on the go, Im on the way down' Well, I assume thats what you want a whistle for!:001_huh:

 

Or just throw little stogs at them.:thumbup:
