Hi all

I have to supply timber for an axe men demo at an up coming show, dimensions for the timber seem very specific 11 inch diameter for some 12 and 13 inch for others, taking account of the natural taper in logs this is going to be tricky, does anyone know is it vital that these dimensions are stuck to, I have plenty of clean straight Poplar of between 10 and 15 inch diameter :confused1::confused1::confused1: Help

thanks in advance

Hi woodland. As I guy that chops it sounds like you have got the perfect timber. Anything between the sizes you have got will do. As the guys can slab it down if the diameter is a little bit large. I'm sure if you can supply the roundest, straightest, cleanest Poplar then everyone will be happy, and you'll probaly get asked to supply again. No knots is normally the name of the game. And they will probably cut the lengths into 2 foot sections. So multiples of that would be good I would imagine. Hope that helps.

Like pete says no need to strip bark as I would think the axe team will do that. Not sure what lengths you can deliver but would imagine that any thing near twelve foot would be good plus a bit for cuts. They might need lengths for tree demos so I wouldn't cut shorter then that. If you can help it. Think you might be supplying The Gywenned Axemen. So I might be worth dropping them a line. Not sure on that one though. What's the show?

Hi Chris just back in for a bit of lunch i have them on the ground and sneded ive left them full length, at about 36 foot give or take should be entertaining moving them but i have a very short distance to move them, ya its for the Gywenned boys, I cant seem to get a number for Andrew Evans, but I think il leave them long as I can get away with, road legally :sneaky2::thumbup:

Thanks very much for your help hope the lads are happy with the timber, the show is The Irish Forestry, Woodland and Bio Energy Show http://www.ifwshow.ie. Its the first time its been run but hopefully the first of many.
