If I'd had the time and appropriate transport I would have collected it. Don't give poplar such a bad name, especially on a public forum. I've sold it in the past (30T last year) and no complaints - as good as any softwood (pine/larch/spruce etc)!

Poplar seasons really quickly and also makes excellent kindling

Burnt about 8 cubic metres of Pop last winter after one year of seasoning and it was excellent. Burnt a bit quick of course but it's fine if you make sure it's good and dry.

 

Do you still have that Pop available in Manchester? We are in Cheshire and we've got two vehicles and trailers - can collect evenings and weekends.
