I was a bit disapointed the last time i went to Wisemans wood, It is starting to suffer from too many people and sheep. There is a much better wood on the south part of the moor just below Black tor; Black tor copse. It is about a 4 mile hike from the nearest road, but it has good atmosphere/ spooky when the mist is low. It has some of the best boulder/ moss/ tree/ lichen/ bryophyte combination on the planet.
