Same lasers

Lasertech Impulse 200LR mounted on a tripod with cable, and prism on tripod. Same spots on ground for upper and lower grade.

Only difference this time is we placed a tag near the "window" where we started so we don't have to go down to the base again. Means I can measure yearly now, and solo.....

Thanks Mario

have you ever had the opportunity to calibrate your laser measurements on one of these enormous trees against a taped measurement taken from a climbed tree?

When Taylor measured the tallest pine at 268' and then some, the Ascending the Giants team that does the Oregon Big Tree program, got a tape drop measure about 1mm - 2mm variance from the laser measuring we did.

Atkins and Taylor both calibrate their lasers using a lake when the air is near perfectly calm. Water seeks it's own level. And that's how they are getting the lasers so accurate.

With 1mm accuracy, or even if were an inch, it almost negates needing to climb any trees.

Atkins has a scope like the one shown in the image above. Taylor replace his scope with something you may expect to find on a high power rifle.
