Is there any reason why I can't use a Whoopie sling as a cambium saver

I hesitate to question some one clearly more experienced than I but 18kN doesn't sound right.

Two girth hitches will result in a 50% loss would they not?

In fact now I come to think about it, with the sling over the crotch (as a basket hitch ) doubles the slings strength to 48kN, minus 50-60% loss ( I quote 'at least 25%') from two girth hitches, which would leave it at 20-24kN...

I was wrong in the first place, is this wrong now?
