Tudo bem Trav013?

I worked nr Aracatuba in the Sao Paulo state, also a bit in Parana and Goias. Was all ranch work but did get the saw out a few times but only ppe was ear plugs:scared1:

Did bit of travelling and also went to Rio. Brazil is a great place, awesome people and amazing women:001_tt1:

Always thought of going out and doing some tree based work but never knew they did and tree surgery as such.On the Fazendas they just went up with a machete and no rope!

Top stuff. also really jealous. Spent a month travelling in Brazil 2005 with a mate- may have bored her looking at trees once or twice though! Amazing place, amazing people. Check out the Pantanal around june time.

Watching the locals climbing coconut palms with barefeet and a bit of rolled up cloth armed with a large machete to cut coconuts was pretty impressive up in Salvador. Top beaches there!

Really amazing beaches! i am very pale skinned and after laying on the beach all day some of the locals i made friends with were calling me 'lagosta' i thought this meant ghost cos i was so white! i looked it up in the trusty phrase book only to find it meant 'lobster'

I have got a 1883 forestry book and the victorians when transplanting used to dig round half the tree cutting all roots fill back up with compost,in the next year do the next half. Then lift the following year and the root system will be a mass of fibous roots and the trees nearly allways survived. plenty of cheap labour then.:001_smile:

Same technique today if you use the Newman tree frame. Used one at college and worked a treat.
