roadside prices, help !!!!

This has probably been done already, but how is roadside timber priced ?

Ive spoken to a few people and just got more confused, is it per tonne or cubic metres .And say its £40a cube does that allow for air spaces ? , so would i get a cube and a half of cut and split logs from a cube roadside?????:confused1:
