Alaskan or Logsol?

 

I'm thinking about the Big Mill System (logsol).

 

Any advice gratefully received.

I have had a big mill for the last two years & have been milling mostly softwood with fairly good results.For one-offs its a bit slow to set up and if you are going to mill more than 2.5M you really need two centre supports(or whatever they are called) I have also had a few probs with the screws used to hold the arms onto the end of the logs - you have to use round heads because countersinks move the plate out of level.This apart its a well made piece of kit but my old 262 is to be honest struggling & im looking to buy a second hand saw of at least 70cc

Imo after seeing a logsol i think they have the edge on my alaskan but also my alaskan was a fraction of the price. So the only answer is cost of what your willing to spend.

Thanks For your posts. I just keep getting beautiful timber and it seem such a wast to Cut it up for fire wood.

Get a 36" Alaskan then and if you start doing more get a logsol or a lucas mill.

Start cheap so you don't end up with something much more expensive sitting in the workshop.
