You have to pay the VAT if asked , but if Royal Mail tries to stiff you for a Clearance Fee for collecting that VAT , you dont have to pay that .

Offer to pay the VAT and if they refuse to give you the parcel once thats paid , they are in serious trouble for withholding royal mail

I bought a Fiskars Super Splitter(7854) , they tried to charge me VAT of £10.02 and a clearance fee of £8.00.

I offered to pay VAT and was refused parcel, long story short , i got my parcel , they waived or paid themselves the VAT and got £50.00 compensation for my trouble

so got the 7854 free.

Oh best spliiting tool ever
