Revisited the second tree yesterday and decided it had to come down. Some pics attached of what we found inside. No leaves or buds on tree hollow under stem.

the root/basal brackets are all igniarius, and the clustered brackets are either bjerkandera adusta or trametes versicolour aka the turkey tail, definately no kretz in these images.

 

And definately no Phellinus igniarius or Bjerkandera adusta in these images too.
