I have been offered some cousin trestec 'American rope' at what seems to be a really good price, but no nothing about the rope, I can't seem to find any reviews, info, anything other than it's arboricultural rope.... I'm just getting started so would like to save money where I can but don't want to buy any rubbish..... Can anyone help?

Cousin Trestec : Les spcialiste du tressage des fibres ultra rsistantes

Do you have traceability for when you have to have the rope LOLER examined? Will it come with conformity records? Is it rope made espeically for the arborist market? Bear in mind that you can get 37m of Yale arborist rope from one of our UK suppliers for between £80 - £90 I can't see why you'd want to buy something you or anyone else isn't familiar with.

Well the Cousin site answers the question about the rope being especially made for the Arborist market, if you look here http://www.cousin-trestec.com/medias_VEdit/fichiers/fiche_elagage_uk.pdf you will see that the American rope IS CE certified and conforms to EN1891.

hey thanks for the response.... i was aware it was CE certified and conformes to EN 1981...

I have since spoke to a couple of guys who do rate it, and ive also had a little play and have to say it does have a nice feel, very flexible looks great for knots so think im gonna give it a shot....

p.s. they dont do a good job of selling the forester rope in their description, seems very ridged...

Well, I have been sent some small samples as you can see, the Mikado which is a 12mm 16 strand rope which has a nice firm feel and the Braidline which comes in 6mm to 14mm, they sent the 12mm which has a very soft feel and so I imagine very easy to splice, the samples I have are not long enough to splice so I'm going to have to buy a larger amount of one of the Five available ropes to try out.

I don't know who will be stocking this rope?
