Is the dog in question intended to be trained for tracking or guard/protection purposes or both? The dog has got to want to work and a strong bond with the handler is a must. If you can get a good dog and the training is done properly i think this is the best example of man and dog working together. My opinions are based on a friend of mine from a while back who bred and trained a few dogs with this method.

yes, shes from a good working obedience background and Mr. likes the idea of tracking trials and obedience work, i like the idea of protection training for obvious reasons, shes got a good prey drive so hope shes got it in her.

Havn't trained a dog for it (dont think either of my dogs have been mentally strong enough) but looks like a real test for the dog both mentally and phisically. As big fell says the dog has to have a real bond with the owner. What about working trials?
