Followed a van towing a chipper in Chesterfield this morning. Two things aroused my suspicions so thought I'd post about it here.

Firstly, the towing vehicle and the chipper had different number plates.

Secondly, the towing vehicle was an unmarked white panel van...didn't strike me as the type of vehicle that would be towing a chipper on the way to a job.

The registration on the chipper was AE59 EZG. I have the registration number of the towing vehicle should this be required :thumbup1:

Spotted at 8am today in Walton area of Chesterfield.

It is probably completely innocent which is why I haven't posted the vans reg number. There is though just a chance that it isn't......

I think you'll find the number plate is Irish, what was the chipper?

Afraid I haven't a clue what the chipper was:blushing: Not being in the business, it won't help I'm sure but it was Orange.

What is meant by that? :sneaky2:

Number plates with a Z in are normally registerd in Ireland . YEARS ago a S in the 3 letters used to mean it was probably first regiterd in scotland. each area USED to have different letter combinations GUF was a good indication it was registered in the Portsmouth area ELL or EEL was Poole in dorset AOR was normally an age related number plate issued if the original plate was either sold or lost. Its nearlly all changed now that its computerised :001_cool:. Disability cars and some rep cars can have odd number plates with a Z in, I think that this can idicate that they were bought in Ireland to get round the tax and vat. I might be completly wrong! and I probably am as my better half constantly reminds me

When I had stuff stolen, the police told me they automatically pull any vehicle with trailer where the plates dont match. Hopefully in this case its perfectly innocent. The trailers plates should match the vehicle, not just one of your fleet!
