BF2 Bridge Replacement

I didn't know you could replace the sheath, but for the price its just as well to replace the lot. I'll try and get a pic soon.

What's the black tape for if you don't mind me asking?

 

Thats the load bearing part.

 

Needs some heat shrink tubing really, but thats the best I could do at short notice. It just keeps the sleeve in the right place.

My bridge has worn a bit as well. the sheath is stitched on as a portective layer, i'm gonna splice upsomething real nice for it. i was thinking about an 8mm beeline bridge

Here's a couple of pics of my bridge and I'm pleased that I've got a replacement now. It might be as strong as when it was new but it's not looking good for the central life support. A respected equipment supplier and isa comp judge condemned one that had half this amount of wear.

That is only the outer sheath, its not load bearing so I wouldnt say it should fail. BUT, the sheath cannot be replaced as its stitched into the load bearing part.

 

All that said i saw the newer version only yesterday, and it doesnt have a sheath but looks hard wearing.

 

Personally i dont like the idea of it being covered anyway, makes it a little difficult to inspect correctly!

I climbed on it like that for a while yes, whereas I should have refused. I've got the new version which is a braided sheath covering it. My opinion is once you can see the load bearing part, get it replaced.

I stand corrected! So the braided bit i saw isnt the actual bridge then? Definately looks harder wearing.

I'm presuming the braided bit is the sheath. I guess I'll find out when I wear this one through! You're right it does look harder wearing.
