Have recently found numerous prunus cerasifera with this fungi on or around the main fork. Is causing some dispute between fellow tree officers, all acnowledge that it is a Phellinus species but cant agree on which one, can anyone out there give a definitive ID

many thank to all those who gave me their opinion on this issue, Bundle 2 and Monkey-D it seems you guys were correct and it is Phellinus tuberculosus which was the one I was leaning towards , have had this confirmed by ABFG (Assosiation of British Fungi Group) who were extremely helpfull, sent them an email of pics and then a sample of fruiting body and for no cost their specialists confimed what it was, definately might be a usefull source of info for future reference guys.:biggrin:
