Ian/James,

do you know if there was there any reference on the tree report (if at all there was a report) of what had caused the heart rot?

My guess would be Phaeolus schweinitzii.

Possible that it may be Sparassis crispa though.

Understand if you're not at liberty to say :001_smile:

.

ians the one answer that i just turned up and did the climbing :001_smile:

I would of guessed Phaeolus too (as i have seen it around that area) but the report i was shown only mention the excessive lean and odd decay pocket and the risk of failure in the sandy loam soil. Nothing about being hollow or any fungi (prob wasn't present at the time). Think i have saved someone some explaining if it fell over.

I used to drive past that tree a lot on the way to "The Ferry" and thought how easy it would be with a MEWP!

I did see you there after you had finished.:thumbup1:

No need for a mewp. We were done and dusted in 3 hours, quick saturday morning job. Went to The Ferry recently does a very nice sunday cavery.:thumbup1:

You should of stopped and introduced yourself were not scary fellows:001_tongue:
