do you know if there was there any reference on the tree report (if at all there was a report) of what had caused the heart rot?

 

My guess would be Phaeolus schweinitzii.

 

Possible that it may be Sparassis crispa though.

I would of guessed Phaeolus too (as i have seen it around that area) but the report i was shown only mention the excessive lean and odd decay pocket and the risk of failure in the sandy loam soil. Nothing about being hollow or any fungi (prob wasn't present at the time). Think i have saved someone some explaining if it fell over.

No need for a mewp. We were done and dusted in 3 hours, quick saturday morning job. Went to The Ferry recently does a very nice sunday cavery.
