Rope for SRT

What are the chances of having a problem asending to the canopy to install my DRT system?

Good idea but I'm a fan of keeping things simple. Having said that it'd make resque both simpler and faster!

 

So am I, Matthew (on account of me being quite thick).

 

But I've found that this set-up does have its uses.

 

Throwline over the chosen crotch - static pulled up and over - knot on the static - pulley and climbing line connected to knot - the pulley hoisted to chosen crotch - climber connects to DRT system.

 

And remember, with a static rope and equipment you still have the option of climbing SRT to chosen crotch and installing cambium saver etc.

I'm thinking for 80m as it'll give me plenty of options of how to set up my system in all but the very tallest trees

I would agree. It has to be the most versatile technique and as mentioned if you tie your climbing system into the end of the static line you would only need 100m of rope for a fully lowerable system for trees where the TIP is less than 50m. I cant think of many trees than are bigger than 50m in the UK. If you know where there are any let me know:laugh1:
