Hi all thought Id give you the heads up so you dont get caught out like me. My partner decided to join Fitness first December 2009 and signed for a year as we where told that you could cancel it if our situation changed. Well after 2 months Bird had only used it once so we went to cancel it and they would nt let us and said that it was a 1 year contract and that was that so bird went a couple of times then in july changed package to allow her to go up in the evening which she never did. Earlier this month the year was up so she canceled the membersip but today we have had a phone call to say that because she changed her membership it was a new contract that would have to run for a year before she can cancel it which is the opposite to what she was told at the time.

If you WERE A MEMBER you ll know what a bunch they are so post abit on here and let others that might be thinking of joining what they might be in for.

Not being funny mate, but if she'd only gone once, why change it in July to go more?

They will make their money on situations like this, hoping that people that sign up don't go, and they are getting paid for nothing. Probably not what you want to hear but if it was me, I'd go loads and get my moneys worth. Hope you can sort something out.

Hi Tommy! the reason she changed package was because we had twin baby girls so she changed it to give her the option of going in the evenings when I got home from work, which you couldnt do on the cheaper package.

I see mate. They have it all worked out. I joined a gym in September but made sure I had a mate that I could go with cause I knew I wouldn't be bothered to go on my own!! haha!

If you can't cancel the deal, maybe find a way to get your moneys worth for until the deal runs out then cancel as soon as!! Good luck mate!!

i went to fitness first and only went a handfull of times in my three month membership, they were calling me up all the time wanting me to extend my membership, i went in there to cancel my membership after 3 months and i could not cancel it because give them a months notice apparently so reluctantly signed up for another three months and cancelled it after 2 months, just a total waste of money tbh will never go again

anyway rant over, happy new year to you all:thumbup:
