At the chemical works we have investors in people certs everywhere.

 

From the input we receive at work re investors in people the company is required to provide 48 hours training per year to each employee and be able to prove there is the possibility of progression though the ranks as a benefit of that training

 

e.g. you take on a new body with no arb skills and start them on the ground. If you spend a week training them to climb (send them on CS38/9) and another few days watching them and promote them to climber you have invested in that person. I think the real hard work is knowing what to tell the people who initially dish out the IIP cert (i.e. why you over gypo tree bodgers), maintaining it is a doddle.

And your reasoning? its easy to poo-poo a topic but its good to hear your view-point too

I just think its a big waste of time and money, me I'd rather do the staff investing myself, I don't need the services of a middle man telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing with my time and money..

 

IMO no amount of 'investing in people' will have much effect on todays work force..

 

And imo the little symbol won't mean much to the general public either, or bring in any commercial work..
