What do you mean by piston stop? Can I just put a thick metal bar through the plug hole?

On the clutch there are arrows pointing clockwise with OFF on it. I take it this is the direction I have to turn the clutch to turn it off?

 

yes. Turn the sprocket in that direction until it stops against the piston stop/rope and then wind off with a socket.

 

If you are really not sure about what your doing then i would get someone who knows what there doing to do it for you:thumbup1:

Finally managed to get the clutch off. Cleaned all channels very well and discovered that on the black plastic washer thread is gone/worn out. I am not sure what role this washer plays? Could it be a pump? It sits on clutch's axis below the sprocket and its thread crosses with thread of the bolt which is responsible for regulating flow of chain oil. If it makes any sense.

 

Since clearing the channels didn't help I think I need to replace the plastic washer. Until then the Husky 395 needs to sit idle. I am still in the dark.

Thats what drives the pump. the clutch drum engage's the nylon drive via 2/3 lugs which in turn drives the pump, if the threads are worn it wont drive the worm gear so you dont get any lubrication:thumbdown:

 

Did you manage to get the clutch off yourself?

Thats the drive for your oil pump and will need replacing. Its worth checking that the pump that it meshes into is turning freely , they often jam up with sawdust and cause that drive to wear out. Also because the oil pick up filter has been off remove the oil pump unit and check

the hole at the back that mates up with the pick up pipe, they are often blocked when the filters been off and any comtamination will cause the plastic drive to strip again.

Oh, yes I have found out on US ebay the plastic bit that lost its thread. It is called WORM GEAR and its thread crosses with a thread of the bolt that is inside of oiler. That bolt regulates flow of chain oil.

 

It is a black piece on the attached photo, the thread is on the opposite/unseen here side. It is part no.: 503 55 75 - 01 < worm gear. Has anyone got any idea where I can get this part relatively fast please.

Wow, you guys know it all. Unfortunately, I had to go to a local service to take the clutch out, it was well on.

I did check and clean that hole and flushed petrol through it, now it is clean, there were plastic debry from black drive/worm gear everywhere. I also found out that blown air would travel freely through these holes only when the oil flow regulating bolt undone fully. But the saw casing does not allow for this bolt to be undone that much?

 

Which bit is the pump I take it is the flat square aluminium part on the above picture so called "oiler" by in the US?

 

Still don't know how to put that filter on the pipe without opening the oil chamber?

The pump is the part that the plastic drive locks into. To replace the filter a piece of strong thin wire with a small hook formed in the end usually is best through the filler cap, the pipes normally stretch enough to get them out of the filler cap to replace the filter
