I'm new to this site and looking for a little help with an assignment i'm working on.. from experience does anyone know how long it takes roughly to progress from assistant tree office to senior tree officer? I'm trying to get an average length of time as all the councils I spoke to seemed to have no time scale for it at all.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no standard progression. The terms assistant and senior don't actually relate to an individuals qualifications or experience - they tend to relate to the structure of the department within the LPA. Therefore, unless there is a reason for changing that structure (funding/resignation/dismissal/retirement/secondment) there may not be any pregression at all.
