Pholiota squarrosa

Shame about this big old ash it's gonna have to bite the dust next week ... But hey it's winter and I doubt much of that's gonna be wasted :) not if I'm gonna be feeding this baby for the next 6 months

It coming down on account the shaggy "Pholiota" Bob ?

Well it is and it isn't ..... It's due to be felled in the next 6mths or so along with 3 others but due to the large amount of the fungi at the bottom and the fact that there's areally big crematorium well within the target zone it's got the x of death for next week

it looks ace:001_smile:, not seen one just like that before, i just use a fire basket in an open hearth and its very wasteful, is yours a bricked up hearth to fit the fire in? Ed.:thumbup1:

Nope we had to pull the chimney breast down and put up a false one cause behind that one there is a huge fire box and a really big casing to protect the surrounding walls due to the enormous heat it puts out really hot and greedy for wood

Pholiota is a root and butt killing fungi but some trees can live with it for a while though like I've said earlier this ons a little to close to the crematorium if it fell it would do serious damage and we would have them bodies piling up. I think now they are gonna just take the head out to remove the weight and leave the log till the rest are ready to be done some pruning some felling ... Pity though you got me thinking now I would of been interested in the decay..... hmmmmm! Watch this space :)
