357 idle problem

I have just fitted a new piston and cylinder and ring. I have adjusted the l and h screw 1 turn anticlockwise and adjusted the idle speed. It will idle for 5 seconds nicely, sometimes longer then just cuts out and needs choke to restart. It also means i cant adjust it properly as its always stopping. What am i doing wrong????

Hi, air leak somewhere, maybe crankseals leaking or carb is fubarred!Try another carb if you can get your hands on one, sometimes a new carb is the cure for 357,s.

had this problem too. Probably will be crankseal, had about 3 go now and all done same thing, reves up on idle then cuts out.

is the crankseal an easy thing as i ve just put it back together! il see if i can find a new carb as well just in case! never had a husky thats run properly...ever!!

crankseals, take the flywheel off and hook the seal out, on the clutch side take the clutch off and the oil pump off then hook the seal out and put the new ones in, simples!

Right thats a piece of piss aint it then!! might as well do that then to tick it off the list then try the carb then throw it in a skip pour petrol on it and set fire to it!!

9 times out of 10 it is the one on the clutch side that goes which is just as well as removing the flywheel can often be a pig!

Did you use a new gasket between the cylinder and crankcase ?

yep new gasket used as i had to wait 2 extra days to get it!!

a full carb strip and clean can help if it,s not an air leak.
