Maintenance of public rights of way within West Sussex.

 

Public rights of way maintenance is broken down into 3 major activities:

 

— Maintenance of structures - this includes the refurbishment/replacement of way-marking signs, the repair and replacement of all timber plank bridges (up to 4m in length) and repairs to larger bridge structures including the replacement and cleaning of deck planks,

 

— Vegetation – the mechanical and manual clearance of surface vegetation. There is a limited element of tree surgery, although this is usually clearance of fallen trees/branches,

 

— Pathway work – maintenance of pathways can include, for example, the creation of a boardwalk or the installation of steps to ease access through these rural sites.
