Hi,

Thanks for the info. much appreciated,busy road and theres a TPO on it. It,s a brave man who,ll leave it up even with a reduction. Decisions decisions eh. All the best.

 

No not really brave alliaria, informed would be more like it.

 

inonotus dryadeus is rarely soley responsible for failures, even any recorded cases i suspect have had complications, for example like the scenarion with colybia i already mentioned.

 

It would not take a lot of digging around with a trowel, or preferably an airspade to evaluate the situation, and its body language is suggesting that it may well be coping adequetly and will in time form a root flare very similar to that image posted above from the fungi directory.:001_cool:

What do you think about the form of the butt on that oak giles?

 

 

I think it's self-optimising in response to the decay on the underside of the roots. And it's doing that road cone thing. Do I get a peanut?:biggrin:

 

I was looking at a field boundary oak with a similar formation, no evidence of fruit bodies, but I suspect it was a response to decay... I should have taken some pics.
