We've had this job on the cards for months, Usually we'd have stopped tree work by now but this was a serious risk to bridges downstream, Never the less it took a long while to put the Health and safety package together, But today was the day.

:bawling:

my number one pet hate, woody debris removal from a water course

i guess there was a very good reason for removing it, shame it couldn't have been staked into the bank, im sure it had to come out really Matt,

funny really when we are dropping trees into the river in the top part of the trent catchment :thumbup1: oh well at least if they get free it will keep you boys busy

Charlie,

The reason it came out today rather than earlier i the year was its taken so long to get authoriseation from all the different departments. Its only a few hundred yards up from a Hydrometrics station, several bridges and the area is prone to flooding. Staking into the bank wasn't an option as it was causing a 70% channel blockage and in the time we were organising extraction it the water had undercut the banks. The tree had already started to break up and bits drift off causing problems, faffing in the channel cutting it up wasn't an option due to the depth of the water, all work had to be done from the bank

In this day and age we have to justify everything we do and get away with nothing.

Matt
