This last week has been a big hitter in this area, with our vehicles being at the bottom of a big pile. From my knowledge 3 businesses in one small town were hit big time. HV cable theft is also happening about 30 miles from me. Its a major operation, and no doubt the local force have their hands full, but hopefully the thieves will get greedy and make mistakes.

I'm thinking they would have guessed that an older vehicle wouldnt have had a tracker, and possibly knew that all BTS kit does. And IF they are using kit for robbing HV, it would be just the sort of vehicle they'd need.
