Have 5 hectares to spray in the Oak wood here - Gaultheria and Rhododendron.

Can anybody recommend the best product to treat both please?

Spec says it has to be Glyphosate based - I have some here from spraying elsewhere, but no mention of either plant in the product label....

Also looking to source blue dye too.

Am new to spraying so all advice gratefully received.

Ta.

You must have an old bottle, as the new ones have got the application rates for various species.

However right at the back of your label there will be a line that goes something like 'forestry spot applications 50:1'

Your local farmers co-op should be able to supply you with everything you will need.

From Monsanto's website: Monsanto - Rhododendron

Foliar Sprays

An overall spray applied to the foliage will provide effective control of young bushes up to 1.3m high or as re-growth 2-3 years after cutting back. The best time for application is from early May to late September but in milder areas applications earlier and later than this have in the past proved successful. A high dose of Roundup Pro Biactive is required for this species. Addition of Mixture B NF, a non-ionic surfactant/spreader, at 2% of the spray volume can improve control and allows the recommended dose rate to be reduced

All parts of the foliage should be sprayed since the plant exhibits transcendental translocation, which means spray droplets falling on one side of a bush will be translocated down to roots on the same side but will not be distributed across to the opposite side. A small missed area can result in re-growth and rapid re-colonisiation

I'm sure that I have seen somewhere that you can go upto 4% mix but I wouldn't go ahead with this unless you can find something to back it up. Also,, possibly off here, I saw that best to apply treat rhodie in November. Again, best to check first.
