need help with this ASAP

hey guys my dad asked me would i know what up with these Aesculus hippocastanum there is 3 of these on a property but they all have wierd growth my dad reckons it could be canker or something but theres no sooty apperence on them

 

any help would be greatfully acccepted

Whilst in principle I'd agree with Bob given the bark necrosis present there doesn't apear to be any active 'oozing' /bleeding as I would expect to see.

 

Can't help thinking some mechanical damage may have alos been inccured by the trees given the type of damage and their location and the (seemingly)recent addition to the perimeter fence with the security bits on top...dunno!

 

Watch and see..?
