Oh right yeah...? Seems that qtra is a mathematical system of probabilities. Although not solely an equation, I can perhaps perceive of some inconsistencies in the marriage of pure maths and the science of predicted failure ( the application of what we know about wood, growth, decay etc..) not to mention the maths of mechanics. This tho' is not so hard to reconcile with probability ? ( Its both maths. )

I can see that it may not always be that useful....Mmmm...cheers.:sheep:

I think QTRA has merit. Its just a systematic way of supporting your professional evaluation of trees and placing the risk of harm into a wider perspective.

Its as "mathsy" (look Tim a neoglism!) as you want it to be... I've found the expression of failure potential in terms of 1/10,000 to be helpful with the public (on the rare occaison that the actually listen to me!!!)

Interesting...they wont listen mate...except when you wrong and they need to blame something....I am being very cynnical people.....

There must be some merit in the system...If I have understood the underlying premis of the maths correctly, I have no experience of it myself, then why not. Its perfect.
