Kepier Woods

Went for a walk in Kepier Woods in Durham today, and found some interesting fungi, including a couple of firsts for me! About an hour into my expedition my camera batteries died- cue much frustration as i found the most photogenic Laeteporus and a couple of other interesting things but was unable to record them. moral of the story- always carry spare batteries!

for my first trick, allow me to introduce what i believe to be Scleroderma citrinum- the common earthball. this is the closest id- match i could get from my ID books so please correct me if i'm wrong!

(i think its either that or a puffball spp)

hahah disclaimer in order i think-

the earthball i pictured a day or two ago, and walked past the site today and saw it had been kicked over/ tramped on, so i took the remains home for a pic...

the russula was one of several in the area....

and the fistulina, i simply touched it to feel its texture and it fell off the tree. seriously! so of course i took it home for a pic haha.

believe it or not i am very conservative in my picking of fungi!
