I have been working with trees for a long time and pruning is my thing so i dont need basic stuff about growing points just new methods and such. Also equipment for reductions i like the tripod ladders so if any one can let me know how they are that would be good

I have used 8ft and 12ft Niwaki tripod ladders and they are very good. Very stable, light and easy to move around. Also great for hedges as you can remove the chain and feed the back leg through into the centre of the hedge and get the ladder flat to the hedge, without going through it:blushing: Hope that helps

Hi Andrew, I'm not aware of any recent books on tree pruning techniques which is probably indicative that not much has changed recently. Natural Target Pruning still 'rules the day' I think but many still need to catch up with that (based on previous AC assessments.)

The European Tree Pruning Guide (2005) and the 'pending' revised BS3998 are the most recent I'm aware of.

Cheers..

Paul

hi paul i already use target pruning every day since i started what i mean really is shaping on reductions the whole canopy i target prune even the smallest branches with silky or secateurs but their should be more covering the bigger picture not just how to prune for fruit . I will have a look at the euro guide as i havent seen that before thankyou for your reply though
