Cutters wanted

hmmm i agree,,harvester all the way!! as a cutter you have to stack as well??? cant be right..........ever tried to pick up a decent sawlog or bar???:biggrin: hmmm also on a saw all day you can cut 10 tonnes plus easily but with the cost of fuel is it worth it! love the camping idea but id not fancy weeks of camping with possibly no shower!!

as a side note the cutter will lose money in tonnage due to the weight loss of timber as it dries in the weeks before its extracted as well!! id love to have a few weeks cutting like in the old days tho!!

 

It could be that there are a lot of old mines in the Dean which makes putting a harvester in a no-go. Stacking as a cutter is pretty standard on shortwood systems, the big logs though can usually be left in the extraction rack as long as subsequent op's can be carried out.

yes one reason for not getting a harvester in is the mines. Also only small timber needs staking. Large timber can be left where felled.

 

The pay cycle is every 2 weeks.
