Just found out yesterday that all £20.00 notes with Edward Elgar on will be illegal tender in 10 days time . So if you have any gathering dust :sneaky2: you better spend them quick. You can still exchange them at the bank etc till the end of the year but shops have the right not to accept them.

You can still exchange them at the bank etc till the end of the year but shops have the right not to accept them.:confused1:

By law they have change the old note for a new one. Also they phase them out as the notes return to the bank, so as far as im aware there is no date marked X when they become worthless. :001_rolleyes:

Im afraid im the bearer of bad news :001_rolleyes:. These notes are not legal tender after the 30th June. Meaning thats shops dont have to accept them. After June 30 if a bank or building society refuses to swap a note, consumers have the right to swap the notes at the Bank of England itself.

Now I cant see shops or banks turning people away with these notes as but they have the right to.
