play in flywheel

I have a 150, which is getting on for 12 years old. however it still does a great job.

However, a few days ago one of the flywheel belts broke and some had slipped off. I then realised the nut and spacer had fallen off end of the flywheel (hopper end), it was de-threaded as was the shaft protruding between the bearings. Shaking the flywheel is showing about 3mm play in the belt wheel at the end, which explains the belts slipping off/breaking.

I had changed the two smaller bearings only 6 months ago, it also looks as though the flywheel shaft has worn smaller than the inner dimensions of the bearings-does this tend to happen?

I'm guessing this maybe new bearings and flywheel time-Is this a mega bucks job?

Any guidance much appreciated

Hi Copcore

From your description it seems that you have suffered a bearing failure which has affected the shafts on the rotor

Depending on whether you have a pressed in nose shaft or a welded shaft assembly depends on the costs involved.

If you have a pressed in shaft I would suggest that you replace the set of three bearings for the unit and also replace the bearing housings and nose shaft as this will save you the cost of a new rotor,

BUT

if you have a welded in nose and rear shaft assembly the bad news is that you will need a new rotor and shaft assembly plus the other parts which will increase the costs

To establish what you have we need to know the serial number of the machine to enable us to look up the build notes.

Tech support can be contacted on 01449 765820 or spares dept on 01449 765818 who will be able to advise you further, but we will need the serial number of the unit.

Hope that this helps
