I can't really take the piss though to be fair arb mate - I'm new to the job so I'm sure I'll do a few howlers and if so I'll grab some pics and post them too, fairs fair in pisstaking  At least it worked out for the best and no one got injured from Barbers chair though.

Looking at those pics of the Silver Birch I'm actually quite proud of myself. That was the first tree I ever look down that involved climbing. I had done cs38 and 39 but hadn't done 41 at that time:blushing:. I know I technically shouldn't have been doing it but in all the pics I can find i'm anchored on in two places, all the branches were cut off with nice neat cuts, and it came down safe and I got paid.

For any of you currently learning to climb and may be struggling take note. I'm not the worlds greatest athlete, i'm 6 ft tall and about 10 stone so i'm not the strongest either. I had always worked in offices before I started tree work, to prove to myself I could. That Silver Birch was pretty big for the first time, and I was more than a little scared. But I got it down cos I decided I would, so wasn't going home till it was on the floor:thumbup1:

I had never worked with any other tree surgeons either. The lads you see in the pics were my employees. I was the boss right from the start (rightly or wrongly).

For me, doing a degree or running a business is much, much easier than anything manual, cos i'm naturally a thinker not a grafter. So for anyone wondering if they can be a good tree surgeon and climber, the answer is probably yes.

As you are a newbie mate, just a quick reminder to watch the language. I'm not offended by it at all but it is part of the forum rules. Hope you dont mind me pointing it out.:thumbup1:

Ah it looked like a good job you did on the Birch, I know how you feel on the height/weight thing, I'm 6'3 and about 12 stone so not exactly the biggest of blokes either but guess it makes it more fun/challenging to get stuck into a big job like that.

I'm hoping to do my Climbing courses maybe later this year, want to cut my teeth on the ground first and get a general feel for it but I do admit the climbing side of it looks great fun.

Edit: Whoops on the language, my first clanger sorry folks / Admins

Hmmm dont want to delete the pic, as the posture of the guy, and the speech bubble sums it all up, and to change it now would spoil it. We're not here to be killjoys, but next time......:001_rolleyes:

Sorry mate. I have mentioned the language to member involved so i'm sure it wont happen again. :thumbup1:

had a relaxin day off today, spotted some lads from a local roofing company doing some tree work across the valley,(about 1/2mile away) cant be bothered going over yet so i stuck the camera to the telescope.. unopened can of fuel in the sun for a few hours, jeans and trackybottoms for protection (no helmets), and one of them wee minichippers..

not sure what happened but the stihl chainsaw had to have two guys arguing over why it wasnt working anymore for about an hour before they wanged it in the tranny van and gave up..
