PRESS RELEASE - 6 May 2010

THE ARB SHOW : FILLING UP FAST

Bathurst Estate, Cirencester

Friday 11 and Saturday 12 June 2010

With just five weeks’ to go before the Arboricultural Association’s 12th annual trade fair, over 70 exhibitors have signed up for the Arb Show this June. One of the most popular events in the arborist’s calendar, this year’s Arb Show promises not only a great deal of specialist arb products and services, but a busy programme of practical demonstrations, a new ‘open to all’ tree work challenge, and great networking opportunities.

We’re looking forward to another great show, and with so many exhibitors – both old and new – coming along, plus informative practical demonstrations and interesting workshop sessions, we’re confident in giving visitors a valuable day”, says Nick Eden, Director of the Arboricultural Association.

New products, new exhibitors

More than 70 trade stands have been booked for the Arb Show to date, with regular exhibitors being joined this year by new suppliers and service providers.

Among the exhibitors, main event sponsor STIHL will be showing new chainsaws and PPE for treework professionals, and its technical experts will give advice and guidance from its popular Technical Centre. STIHL is also offering a set of its latest PPE to a lucky winner of the Free Prize Draw open to everyone registering at the Arb Show this year.

ForestandArb.com (Winchester Garden Machinery), will be launching a new climbing rope made for them by Marlow. WASP is a 13mm high tenacity polyester rope that comes in 25, 35 and 45 metre lengths – all with spliced eyes. The highly visible yellow with black fleck makes the rope a perfect choice for the arborist industry.

New exhibitor, Cumberland Industries supply and manufacture access platforms and will be launching their new Iveco 4 x 4 at the Arb Show, and another new exhibitor, Justsaws will be showing its range of mobile sawmills.

Sorbus have added the range of Oregon chainsaw spares & forestry products to further improve the comprehensive choice available to customers. Oregon personnel will be on their stand (D2) to offer advice and assistance. They also plan to launch the renowned range of Japanese ARS pruning products at the show.

Another exhibitor, Saturn Machine Knives have this year branched out into Arb gear. Under the name of Northern Arb Supplies they have launched a new arb shop based in Sheffield as well as a new online shop, and invite arborists to visit them for unbeatable prices.

Service providers at the show range from training companies and colleges to recruitment agencies and insurance providers, including new exhibitor the Wiltshire Friendly Society who provide income replacement insurance, helping its members insure against loss of income through illness or accident.

Demonstrations and displays

One of the key benefits of attending the Arb Show, is the chance to see practical demonstrations and to talk to some of the arboricultural industry’s leading experts, equipment and service providers.

Among the practical demonstrations taking place, Fletcher Stewart will be showing its extensive range of arborist equipment, including the new RC Rigging devices, and an air spade at work in arboriculture.

The Tree Climbers’ Forum is again back at the show and will give visitors an opportunity to try arborist equipment and talk through their experiences with the experienced team on hand. The popular construction site feature, will again replicate a common work-site scenario, and demonstrations will include Abbey Pynford ‘s ‘Housedeck’ foundation system.

Join in and win!

No Arb Show would be complete without some competitive spirit, which this year is provided by the 3ATC (Arboricultural Association Arborist Tree Challenge). Open to all, and with no less than four categories to entice every level of competitor, this year’s Challenge replicates a straightforward Work Climb, where competitors just need to complete a set of target zone tasks. Sponsor of the event, arbjobs.com have got together a great range of prizes, and with an entry fee of just £10 competitors have the chance to win some top gear from some of the industry’s leading retailers.

Commenting on the event, Nick Pott from arbjobs.com said : “We have made the 3ATC competition much more straightforward this year, and already have a good number of competitors signed up, from Novice climbers to Experts, as well as Seniors and the real specialists signing up for the Premier class. Our promise of great prizes, and opening up more entry categories with a simplified Work Climb format is clearly aimed at encouraging as many entries as possible. Of course, getting rid of the dreaded log shift will help even more to join in!” The 3ATC competition will be open on both days of the Arb Show; entries can be made on the day but it is recommended to enter in advance. Visit the 3ATC website for full details and an entry form: http://www.3atc.com.

The Arboricultural Association is encouraging visitors to the Show, promising a valuable day out at a very attractive ticket price. Entry costs just £8 per adult (£7 with an Arb Show leaflet) or £5 for students/unwaged (subject to SU card/UB40). A two-day ticket is also available for £10.00.
